Single & Handicap betting
Head to Head
A straight two-way competition, usually without the draw being offered. If the event is drawn or otherwise tied the dead heat rule applies and bets are paid at half face value of the ticket.
If you bet $10 on Wales to beat France and Wales win, your return is $27.20 (stake of $10 * the odds of 2.72 = $27.20)
Match (1x2 or Coupon)
A straight three-way competition, with the draw being offered.
If you bet $10 on the Draw at 5.80 and the game is drawn after 90 min, your return would be $58.00 (stake of $10 * the odds of 5.80 = $58.00)
Please note: Full time is equal to the end of normal time.
Margin betting allows you to select a margin of points a team can win by. A winning range is usually offered. I.e. Team A by 1 to 12 points, the winning margin must fall in this range for your bet to win. Unlike Head to Head and Line betting, a Draw is offered in margin betting.
Margin betting odds will be greater than that offered in Head to Head betting.
If you bet $10 on Wales at the 1-12 point margin at 3.60 your return will be $36.00 if France beat Wales by between 1 and 12 points (stake of $10 * 3.60 = $36.00)
Line (Handicap or Spread)
Each team receives a handicap of plus or minus points to reduce the game to an even competition. A team with a minus handicap must win the event by more than the handicap for your bet to win. A team with a plus handicap can win the game or must not lose the event by more than its handicap for your bet to win. Line handicaps usually contain a ½ point i.e. 4 ½ so that a drawn outcome is not possible.
Line betting can increase the odds of the favourite and can also provide an opportunity to win on the team that loses the game outright.
If you bet $10 on QLD on the 1.90 line at -4½ your return will be $19 if QLD beats NSW by more than 4½ points (stake $10 * the odds of 1.90 = $19)
If you bet $10 on NSW on the 1.90 line at +4½ your return will be $19 if NSW win the game or lose the game by less than 4½ points (stake $10 * the odds of 1.90 = $19)
Totals (Under Over)
Totals or Game Total is the combined scores of both teams involved in a bet. You can bet whether the game will go "over" or "under" this figure.
Birmingham City is playing Arsenal and the total posted for the game is 2.5.
If the final score is Bolton Wanderers 2, Wolves 1, the total game score would be 3. Therefore if you bet over, you would win; if you bet under, you would lose.
If you bet $10 on the Over at 1.73 and the total game score is 3, your return would be $17.30 (stake of $10 * the odds of 1.73 = $17.30)
